Program Overview

The VeraSafe DPF Verification and Certification Program offers the highest level of compliance assurance and risk mitigation. Our team will guide you through the self-certification process under the ITA’s Data Privacy Framework (DPF) Program using an external compliance review model. The focus of this program is to provide a high degree of compliance assurance, while relieving your team of the heavy lifting.

Compliance Assessment

VeraSafe will verify your organization’s compliance with the DPF Principles through a series of compliance checks that correspond to the requirements of the DPF Supplemental Principle on Verification. This includes reviewing your responses to our straightforward DPF questionnaire, evaluating your privacy policy against our DPF privacy policy checklist, and confirming that you have a working point of contact for data subjects who wish to exercise privacy rights.

Compliance Gap Remediation

If any compliance gaps are identified during the initial compliance assessment, your VeraSafe project team will help you remediate those gaps and ensure that your organization has all of the required elements in place for successful DPF certification. Led by an experienced privacy attorney, your VeraSafe project team will provide direct support and consultation as you resolve areas of noncompliance.

Dispute Resolution Program

Your organization will be enrolled in the VeraSafe DPF Dispute Resolution Program, which satisfies the requirements of an Independent Recourse Mechanism or “IRM” as described in the DPF’s Recourse, Enforcement and Liability Principle. Our program provides a plethora of opportunities for your organization and a complainant to arrive at a mutually acceptable, fair resolution to any privacy complaint that may arise.

Letter of Verification

When compliance gaps have been reasonably mitigated, VeraSafe will then issue a signed letter of verification as required by the DPF Supplemental Principle on Verification.

Certification Support

Your VeraSafe team will guide you through the DPF Program self-certification process to help ensure that your submission to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA) complies with the ITA’s procedures. Your organization will also be eligible to list VeraSafe as your third-party compliance verification mechanism during the certification process.

After successfully completing the VeraSafe DPF Verification and Certification Program requirements, you’ll receive VeraSafe’s website trust seal.
